Days Gone Movie Is Reportedly in the Works

The producers are considering Outlander's Sam Heughan to play Deacon St. John.

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Days Gone has sold 9 million copies, however, despite these huge sales, there are no plans for the sequel yet. Still, the fans of the game may see their favorite character on the screen in the near future.

According to a recent report from Deadline, Bed Studio's title is getting a movie adaptation. The report states that Sony PlayStation Production, the movie division of the company's videogame arm, is developing a Days Gone feature film with an adaptation from Up in the Air and X-Men: First Class writer Sheldon Turner. The movie is set to be produced by Vendetta Productions and PlayStation Productions.

If you're not familiar with the game, Days Gone follows the story of the outlaw biker Deacon St. John who discovers that the long-lost love of his life Sarah, who had been assumed dead, may still be alive and goes on a quest to find her, fighting against cannibalistic creatures known as the Freakers along the way. The report claims that the adaptation will be a "love ballad to motorcycle movies – the bike being Deacon’s sole form of transportation."

Deadline also reveals that producers are currently considering Outlander star Sam Heughan for the role of Deacon St. John. The choice of the actor has become a surprise for many fans who started debating that actor Sam Witwer, who lent his likeness and voice to Deacon, would be the better choice here.

Days Gone director Jeff Ross also commented on the news saying that it is "absolutely ridiculous they aren’t casting Sam Witwer." According to Ross, Witwer has "the physicality, the right look, and he can motherf*cking act."

"He looks and sounds just like the character. Don’t tell me Scottish guy has a strong enough following to make it worth it," Ross wrote.

Answering the questions of his followers, Ross also admitted that he did not know anything about the upcoming adaptation and stated that instead of a Days Gone movie, he would rather see a sequel to the action game for PS5.
