Despite limited access to the game, the number of concurrent players exceeded the new peak a few days after the announcement.

Valve announced Deadlock last week, leaving access to the game invite-based, but this didn't prevent the shooter from breaking new popularity records. Deadlock already reached more than 106,000 concurrent players and over 860,000 wishlists.
According to SteamDB, 106,447 people played Deadlock online, a new peak, both over the last 24 hours and the first days after the game's reveal.

Apart from this, the new MOBA shooter holds the 23rd position among the top-wishlisted games on Steam, exceeding Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, with more than 860,000 players wishlisting the game.
It's not the first time that Deadlock has set records in the number of players, continuously proving to be one of the most popular and anticipated titles, despite Valve's secretive policy and limited access to the game. On its announcement day, Deadlock already significantly surged in popularity, soaring to almost 90,000 concurrent players. Prior to the reveal, "hundreds" of people were playtesting the game in alpha. Earlier in August, Deadlock set a new record of 18,254 concurrent players.
Recently, it has been noticed that Valve violates its own Steam rules, which state that every game must have at least five screenshots, and Deadlock has none.
