Demo Of This Retro 2D Survival Horror With Live-Action Cutscenes Updated

Tenebris Somnia is coming in late 2025.

The developers of Tenebris Somnia, an upcoming pixelated survival horror game with live-action cutscenes that we covered last October, have updated the game's demo version to include lots of new content and improvements for combat, enemies, cinematics, environments, interactions, and cinematics based on players' feedback.

If you missed our previous article, what makes the game outstanding is the blend of 2D gameplay and cutscenes performed by real-world actors. While solving mysterious puzzles and fighting with horrific creatures in order to figure out what happened to your ex-boyfriend, you might trigger cinematics at certain points and see "sequences with a completely different aesthetic, made in live action with real actors and created by a professional and award winning film crew."

As detailed in this Steam blog, you might expect the following changes in the newest version of the demo: the wrench attack has been fastened, while the ranged attack has been slowed down and now only occurs after being knocked back, more cinematics about the character Iván have been added, the interaction with the object is only enabled when a player faces it, new interactions to the environments, a broader camera view, and so on.

Andrés Borghi and the developers at Argentina-based Saibot Studios have generously shared more screenshots so we can experience the game's atmosphere.

The game has a 2025 release window, and in the recap video presented by Tobías Rusjan, it has been narrowed down to late 2025. The team is taking more time to polish this ambitious project.
