Clicking bananas is a new trend, and when you learn that more than 800,000 people do that all the time, you might suspect that there is something dubious going on with Banana. This game left behind Baldur's Gate 3 and Hogwarts Legacy in terms of concurrent players, after all. However, the game's developers reassured everyone that there is "no scamming" happening.
"We cannot wait to turn this game into something bigger and better than just a clicker game. Please stay on the lookout as we have been and still are working on a large amount of updates to improve the game and let you all do much more with your bananas," the co-creator AestheticSpartan, said (via Insider Gaming).
One member of the team, Theselions, used to be involved with a Bitcoin scam on the Steam marketplace, apparently, but the studio let him go, so there should be no worries now.
If you're confused about why so many people spend their time clicking on an image of a banana, it is because you can get rare skins once in a while, and those can be sold on Steam for over $1,000. Of course, such easy money attracted certain attention. The majority of those 800,000 players are said to be bots. Hopefully, the promised improvements will rid the game of this problem and give it a new beginning.
