Developers Showed Unreal Engine 5 Capabilities in Lords of the Fallen Trailer

HEXWORKS used 3D scans of real people and UE5's character customization tech to let players create a unique virtual persona.

Publisher CI Games has released a new showcase trailer for Lords of the Fallen, demonstrating Unreal Engine 5's technical capabilities.

The developers from HEXWORKS want to immerse players in the world by letting them create unique personas using 3D scans of real people and UE5's character customization tech. You can shape your protagonist in many ways, and the armor will adapt to whatever you come up with.

"A vast world awaits in all-new, dark fantasy action-RPG, Lords of the Fallen. As one of the fabled Dark Crusaders, embark on an epic quest to overthrow Adyr, the demon God."

HEXWORKS promises a high level of detail in textures and realistic physics for clothes, chains, hair, belts, and more.

The game takes advantage of UE5's Lumen to make lighting shine in real time and react to its surroundings.

The developers created their own custom toolset within the engine to craft the realm of the living, Axiom, and the realm of the dead, Umbral, side by side and swap between them.

Overall, Lords of the Fallen strives to be a realistic and intricate project for HEXWORKS. The game should be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this year.
