Diablo II Resurrected Sales Hit 5 Million and Patch 2.4 Is Released

Diablo II Resurrected sales exceeded 5 million copies since its launch in September 2021. The developers also released Patch 2.4 –  the first major update to the game that fixes a series of bugs including those that have been around since the original Diablo II.

Blizzard Entertainment’s Diablo II Resurrected has sold over 5 million copies worldwide since its debut in September 2021. In comparison, the original Diablo II managed to sell 4 million copies within a year after its launch, while Diablo III sold more than 3.5 million copies on the first day and over 6.3 million copies in the first week of its release.

A notable milestone for Diablo II Resurrected reflects a steady growth of the game even despite the fact that when it was first launched it saw a number of server and connection issues. Ever since Blizzard has been dedicating its efforts to stabilizing the online infrastructure, and recently it released Patch 2.4 – a major update the title has received since March 2010.

The new update affects many parts of the game and fixes a series of bugs including those that have been around since the original. In particular, the developers fixed an issue that caused certain monsters with the ability to drain mana to steal more mana from the player than intended. This left players out of mana far too quickly and unable to use spells or other powers.

In addition, an issue with fire enchanted monsters that dealt too much damage in the Nightmare difficulty has been fixed. Besides, the creators of Resurrected fixed a number of flaws that were found in the remaster itself, including those related to DLSS.

Blizzard has also improved the balance between the classes and made small adjustments. Among other things, the developers have added a new feature – Legacy Graphics Emulation: players can now choose between three options, one of which mimics the original as closely as possible and the other two add minor improvements.

The developers also noted that on April 28, Diablo II: Resurrected kicks off the first Ladder season which is bringing ranked play that will feature four modes. Before its launch, the developers will release another patch in which they will fix the problems found in Patch 2.4.
