The first Diablo IV beta will be a closed one and will be focused on the endgame experience.
Blizzard announced that the first Diablo IV beta is coming this year. This first beta, however, comes with several strict sign-up requirements as it revolves around the endgame. Specifically, Blizzard is looking for players who have extensive experience in playing the endgame of Diablo II: Resurrected, Diablo III, and Diablo Immortal.
The company noted that it's decided to focus on "end-game offerings" for several reasons – first of all, the developers didn't want to spoil the full story of Lilith's return to Sanctuary, and secondly, they wanted to make sure that the endgame experience in Diablo IV feels satisfying considering that endgame is a favorite aspect of any Diablo game for many players.
Blizzard said it will choose a limited number of players. The beta will be "confidential", so players won't be able to say anything about the game or anyhow share their experiences with the public.
The closed beta test will be playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Players who believe they fit the requirements have to apply for participation before October 11.
Blizzard hasn't specified when the closed beta period begins, only saying that the selected players will receive email invites by November 18. It also noted that those who weren't chosen for the closed beta testing will be able to participate in the next open beta period that will begin in early 2023.
