Fans of Warhammer 40,000 will soon be able to learn more about the game's founding fathers and the company they created.
If you are a fan of tabletop games, Warhammer 40000 in particular, Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson require no introduction. However, for those unaware, Ian and Steve are the Founders of Games Workshop, a British manufacturer of miniature wargames, most commonly known for creating the Warhammer universe. Before, the first years of the company's existence were shrouded in mystery, given the fact that not many people back then were interested in tabletop wargames. But this Autumn, this is about to change.
Unbound, a crowdfunding publisher with a community of more than three hundred thousand people, announced that the book about the inception and the first years of Games Workshop, titled Dice Men, almost tripled the required funding and will be released in Fall 2022. Initially, Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson planned to release the book all the way back in 2018 but had to postpone the release due to the pandemic.
"Dice Men is a book about the history of Games Workshop, not just the business narrative but the story of its founders and their journey, along with all the people they picked up along the way," states the book's description. "How did Ian and Steve do it? How did they get to that first Workshop store? What's the story behind Dungeons & Dragons coming to the UK, starting a whole new hobby? How did Games Workshop grow after that?"
