Did Tencent's New Game Rip Off Sony's Horizon?

You have to be blind not to see it.

The idea of nature versus machines is not novel in itself, but POLARIS QUEST, Tencent's subsidiary, took it to unbelievable levels by making it blatantly obvious which game inspired it.

LIGHT OF MOTIRAM is an adventure with "precise combat" and "epic boss fights," and when you see it, you can't deny this looks like a Horizon rip-off.

"In a world overrun by colossal machines, explore the vast open world, build your base of operations, advance technology, train Mechanimals, and take on formidable bosses. Starting from the primitive age, forge a new path of development. Defy the machination, survive with mechanimals."

Here are some images that will make you question Tencent's decisions:

One question that players have is – why? The developers and publisher can't have missed the fact this looks a lot like Horizon, right? I mean, a female protagonist with a bow killing giant mechanized animals seems a little too obvious.

"I’m all for new games but come on you’ve literally stole someone else’s hard [work] and tried passing it [off] as your own I can’t see this one going very far before a lawsuit is issued for copyright infringement or something," said one X/Twitter user.

"Man, at first, I thought it was just the aesthetic, but really, wtf were you guys thinking?" added another.

If you still want to play LIGHT OF MOTIRAM, you'll have to wait, as the game doesn't have a release date yet. It should be out in 2025 on PC, PS5, iOS, and Android if Sony doesn't sue it.
