Discord Ends Acquisition Talks With Microsoft

Discord chat app decided to stand independent for a while and halt any sell talks.

There have been statements circulating about a possible acquisition of a popular chat app Discord by Microsoft. Last month, Bloomberg reported that Microsoft was in exclusive talks to acquire Discord. Now, according to the report by The Wall Street Journal, these talks are off the table.

Initially, Microsoft wanted to buy Discord for around $10 billion. However, according to the WSJ's sources, they were not the only potential buyer, as there were at least 3 companies more that wanted to bring Discord into their families.

Now though, all of them should start looking for another chat app to buy, as Discord repositions itself for an initial public offering. The Wall Street Journal notes that “it is possible they could be rekindled in the future,” according to some of its sources.
