The studio is called Emptyvessel, and its debut game is The System.
The renowned veterans from Naughty Dog, Activision, and id Software, who worked on popular franchises such as Doom, Quake, Call of Duty, The Last of Us, Borderlands, and Tomb Raider, have joined forces and established an independent game development studio called Emptyvessel, with its headquarters in Austin, Texas.
At the helm are Emanuel Palalic, serving as the CEO of the studio, and Garrett Young, the COO, both of whom previously worked at id Software.
The primary objective of the studio is to create high-quality games by incorporating cutting-edge innovations from the industry.
"Our industry is at a crossroads between business and talent. At Emptyvessel, we take a developer–first approach to our direction and execution," shared Young. "We understand every innovation in this industry has been led by a developer taking a risk–every new IP, every billion-dollar franchise. Gaming's next massive hit can come from anywhere."
The studio's debut project, The System, is an immersive AAA shooter powered by Unreal Engine 5, which will draw inspiration from dystopian sci-fi narratives found in movies, games, and graphic novels.
Details regarding the release platforms and date for The System have yet to be disclosed. Famous composer Mick Gordon, known for his exceptional work on titles like Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal, will contribute to the soundtrack for Emptyvessel's debut game.
