Doom Сreator John Romero's Next Game is a UE5-Powered FPS Game

The team is now hiring.

Doom creator John Romero revealed he and his team are working on a new FPS game. In a tweet earlier today, Romero shared he was looking for specialists to join Romero Games' "new FPS." The post also revealed they are "working with a major publisher" on the game that is described as "an all-new FPS with an original, new IP."

It appears the game is now in the earliest stages of development, so don't miss your chance to contribute to the beginning of Romero's new title. The team's website also confirms that the game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5's "state-of-the-art technology."

"It’s a new dawn for Romero Games. We are 100% focused on first-person shooters, the foundation that built our careers, our studio and a genre," states the official website. "Our current project is an all-new FPS with an original, new IP. Romero Games is working with a major publisher using state-of-the-art technology – Unreal Engine 5."

The new roles emphasize a multiplayer component – the lead level designer, for example, needs to have "extensive experience" on "current-gen console or PC titles that featured a multiplayer component."

Romero noted that "it's way too early to share any other information" so we'll have to wait to get more details. Stay tuned and check out the team's website with job openings here
