Awful performance on PC and microtransactions are to thank for the game's Mostly Negative rating on Steam.

Dragon's Dogma 2, the much-anticipated RPG from Capcom, is finally here. However what comes together with the release, is its performance issues on its PC port.

Despite its commendable features, the game's high demand on CPUs has resulted in unavoidable performance issues, irrespective of the robustness of the user's gaming rig.

In an explanation to IGN, a Capcom representative mentioned:

"In Dragon's Dogma 2, a large amount of CPU usage is allocated to each character and dynamically calculates the impact of their physical presence in various environments. In certain situations where numerous characters appear simultaneously, the CPU usage can be very high and may affect the frame rate ...We are aware that in such situations, settings that reduce GPU load may currently have a limited effect; however, we are looking into ways to improve performance in the future."

Alongside the frame rate issues, Dragon's Dogma 2 has also been plagued by stability problems, with reports of regular crashes interrupting gameplay. This instability, combined with the inconsistent frame rate, even on high-end hardware, has been a significant point of contention in the otherwise well-received RPG.

By the time this article was written, many negative reviews on Steam were due to compatibility issues as well as microtransactions, making this game a 'mostly negative' rating on the platform.

Despite these issues, Capcom has reassured players that they are aware of the problems and are actively seeking ways to improve the game's performance in future updates. With their promise, players can look forward to potential solutions that will address the current performance challenges.

Now it all depends on how the dev/publisher proceeds.
