The release is set to incorporate "the latest in graphics, artificial intelligence, and physics technology".
At PlayStation Showcase 2023, Capcom and Sony released the first trailer for Dragon's Dogma II, an upcoming single-player, narrative-driven action-RPG and a sequel to the developer's 2012 Dragon's Dogma.
First revealed a year ago by Hideaki Itsuno, the director of the original game, Dragon's Dogma II will enable players to "choose their own experience", including the appearance of the main character, or Arisen, their party, how to approach different situations, and more. According to Capcom, the release will incorporate "the latest in graphics, artificial intelligence, and physics technology" and feature a new gameplay element named Pawns, new mysterious beings that utilize AI to make the player feel as if they are being "accompanied by other players".
And here's a short description of the upcoming game's story, written by the creators:
"The story begins in an underground gaol where the Dragon's voice echoes in the fog of lost memories. Ascend, Arisen, and best me, in accordance with the dogma of this world. Betwixt the domains of human and beastren, A hero must fulfill their forgotten destiny. What dogma does your heart see through your eyes? ‘Tis a tale of one who shall slay the Dragon and claim the throne."
The game is coming sometime in the future to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Learn more about Dragon's Dogma II here.
