Techland announced that the long-awaited sequel of Dying Light had surpassed 5 million sales within just three weeks after its launch, and shared that the original game had sold 20 million copies.
Techland announced that its open-world shooter game Dying Light 2 Stay Human has surpassed 5 million sales. According to a press release, a considerable milestone was reached on February 28, about three weeks after the game's launch on February 4.
The studio also emphasized that the numbers kept growing "significantly" within the following weeks, although it didn't specify how many copies of the long-awaited sequel have been sold since then. In addition, Techland revealed that the original Dying Light has sold over 20 million copies which marks another huge milestone for the series.
The Polish studio also confirmed that a major patch for Dying Light 2 that will bring "a lot of opportunities for all players" including "highly requested features" will be released at the end of April. It is not yet clear what features will appear in the update, although the developer implied that it is "seriously thinking" on a New Game Plus mode.
The original Dying Light was first launched in 2015 with Techland proving itself as a development studio that supports its games for many years after the initial release. Seven years later, the studio released the long-anticipated sequel – Dying Light 2 Stay Human – and just like with the first game, Techland guaranteed the support of the game for years after its launch promising to add new content, including story-based DLC, new events, and new in-game items.
The game is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. And a Switch version is currently in development.
