EA CEO's Salary Dropped by Almost $20 Million in 2021

The CEO's annual pay declined due to the reduction of executives' bonuses.

For the past financial year ending March 31, 2022, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson was paid $19.9 million, down from the $39.2 million he got a year earlier. That's according to a new company filing that was spotted by Axios.

The reduction was caused by the fact that EA shareholders previously voted against the proposed increase in compensation to company executives. A year ago, FIFA and The Sims maker said that it would review the payment plan for executives decreasing or forgoing some bonuses in the next few years.

This included the EA's CEO pay – in 2021, he was given a $30 million stock grant but received a lower $18 million one for the 2022 fiscal year. "We reiterated our commitment to not grant any special equity awards to named executive officers through at least the end of fiscal year 2026 and confirmed that this commitment applies to enhanced annual equity awards," EA wrote in the filing.

The $19.9 million that Wilson received in the past fiscal year is still a big amount, which, for example, corresponds to the annual salary of Take-Two and Unity heads.

Electronic Arts also remains the company that offers one of the largest average salaries among employees – according to EA, its median employee gets an income of about $115,569, and last year, the company reported a median employee's income of $123,935.
