According to the latest reports, EA is shutting down Respawn's Apex Legends UK-based QA team, which was established in 2022 and has been contributing to Apex Legends since Season 16.
The reported shutdown will result in the loss of around 40 contractors. These cuts, which are distinct from previous ones in March, involve the non-renewal of contracts expiring in a couple of weeks.
"Everything seemed to be heading to a normal renewal ready to tackle the next year of plans for Apex," shared an affected employee with Insider Gaming.
The affected say that they were invited to a "Business Update" Zoom call, where it was shared there would be no contract renewal. It didn't come down to their poor performance but rather to the "restructuring of the business."
The weird thing is that managers and project leads didn't know about the whole situation, so the QA workers were the ones who shared this piece of news after the call ended.
