EA To Publish Three Games Based on the Marvel Comics

The publisher has signed a three-game deal with Marvel. The partnership will start with an Iron Man game created by the Dead Space remake developer EA Motive.

The Sims and FIFA publisher Electronic Arts has partnered with Marvel to create at least three video games based on the Marvel comics.

As reported by Bloomberg, the first of these three games will be an Iron Man game developed by EA Motive, the studio that worked on Star Wars: Squadrons and Star Wars: Battlefront 2 which is also currently developing the Dead Space remake.

The game was first announced in September and is planned to be a single-player action-adventure game featuring the original story of the billionaire, inventor, and ingenious scientist Tony Stark known as a superhero called Iron Man.

It is said that all the games will be released for PCs and consoles. EA hasn't shared any details about other characters who are planned to be featured in future games and hasn't provided a release schedule.

It is also unclear whether the publisher plans to stick to one character and follow in the footsteps of Sony's Insomniac Games that created Marvel's Spider-Man, followed by the spin-off Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and the upcoming Marvel's Spider-Man 2, or create three different titles featuring three different characters.

According to EA's chief operating officer Laura Miele, with this new agreement, the publisher plans to broaden the audience, bringing in Marvel fans who haven't been drawn to other EA's popular franchises like FIFA or Battlefield, the move similar to what the company did with the Star Wars franchise.

"We have an intentional, deliberate strategy to have a balanced portfolio," Miele said. "There will be Marvel fans who don’t play other EA games. That’s been true with Star Wars."

What do you think the other two games apart from the already announced title will be? Will they be follow-ups to the Iron Man game or will they feature other Marvel characters?
