It seems that Thomas Marcos, whose work on Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom and custom scratched car paint shader we featured in the past, has begun a new project, demonstrating a Geometry Nodes-powered setup for smooth surface transitions, which looks handy for environment creation.

As he explained, he prefers working with Cycles but still faces a noticeable black ambient occlusion line between the two meshes when using this renderer. Blender is always evolving, so it's possible this feature just hasn't been fully implemented yet.
