Mortal Kombat 1 was released in September, and it achieved significant success. The series Co-creator, Ed Boon, and his team at NetherRealm Studios have demonstrated their commitment to providing ongoing support for the game with new characters, modes, cosmetics, and additional content. However, it appears that they have something particularly special planned.
During an interview at the Comic Con Experience 2023 (CCPX23) in Brazil, Boon revealed that they have a "big surprise" in store for fans. The nature of this surprise remains unknown, leaving room for speculation and anticipation. What could NetherRealm Studios have for Mortal Kombat 1's players? Only time will tell.
Boon also shared that Mortal Kombat 1 is set to receive an expansion in the future. This expansion is expected to significantly enrich the game's story mode and offer a lot of additional content. Boon drew a comparison to Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, which was released a year after the original game and featured a separate campaign that expanded upon the original storyline, along with a new roster of DLC characters. "Just like we did with Mortal Kombat 11, we're going to release a second part with more story," Boon said, adding "So we're going to be supporting [MK1] for even longer than we did for Mortal Kombat 11. It's gonna be fun."
Back in October, we informed our readers about an issue with Mortal Kombat 1 that resulted in the game generating crash reports that occupied a significant portion of players' hard drive space. These crash reports would sometimes accumulate to sizes exceeding 1GB or more.
