The winners of Japan Game Awards 2022, a part of this week's Tokyo Game Show, were announced yesterday. The most prestigious prize was taken by FromSoftware's hit action RPG title, Elden Ring. The game has won the Grand Award, marking the first time that FromSoftware took home this big prize.
In addition, FromSoftoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki also received the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry Award at the Japanese award-giving ceremony.
Other titles that won prizes at this year's Japan Game Awards include Resident Evil Village, Sky: Children of the Light, Tales of Arise, Lost Judgment, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Horizon Forbidden West, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Kirby and the Forgotten Land which received Awards for Excellence.

Japan Game Awards is an annual award ceremony that takes place as part of the annual Tokyo Game Show. The Japanese audience voted for the best games released in the previous fiscal year, that is from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. Following the public's vote, the judging panel determined the top ten games suitable to win the Awards for Excellence and chose the best title among them to win the Grand Award.
