Electronic Arts Unveils FIFA 23

For the first time, the game will bring women's club football teams and cross-platform multiplayer.

On July 20, 2022, Electronic Arts released the FIFA 23 trailer and shared details about the game revealing new features the next installment in the FIFA series will bring.

First off, the game, for the first time, will introduce women's club football teams. At launch, two women's leagues will be available – the FA Women’s Super League and the French Division 1 Féminine. Although EA plans to expand the roster in the future. FIFA 23 will also have two types of tournaments: the men’s World Cup Qatar 2022 (commencing November 21) and the Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023 (July 20, 2023). Besides, the cover of the game will feature both a male and female player – Chelsea's Sam Kerr and PSG's Kylian Mbappé.

The title will also include the long-anticipated cross-platform multiplayer, however, at launch, it will have certain limitations. For instance, cross-play will be available for players on the same platform generation: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Stadia, and PC versions of FIFA 23 will be cross-play compatible with one another, and PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of FIFA 23 will be cross-play compatible with one another. Cross-play will be supported in all 1v1 game modes including FIFA Ultimate Team, Online Seasons, and Online Friendlies.

FIFA 23 will feature an improved second-generation HyperMotion animation system which, for the first time, will also be available on PC. HyperMotion 2 will bring another 6,000 animations to the game "from millions of frames of Advanced 11v11 Match Capture."

The new features in the game will also include updated mechanics for free kicks, penalties, and corners. Besides, according to the publisher, the game will bring more realistic physics as well as improved acceleration techniques which make the behavior of players on the field more accurate.

FIFA 23 will launch this fall for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. You can learn about new all the new features in the game here.
