Elite Dangerous Dev Lays Off Unknown Number of Employees

The UK-based Frontier decided to lay off people due to disappointing financial performance. 

Game development companies continue to lay off people in 2023. On October 17th, UK-based Frontier Developments shared with its investors that it plans to conduct a business review. The business wants to address recent "disappointing financial performance."

The Frontier's goal is to reduce annual operating costs by 20%. The strategy involves an undisclosed number of layoffs, a hiring freeze, and reducing some expenses.

The company plans to implement the changes by the beginning of 2024. Frontier has been experiencing losses for some time. For the last financial year ending on May 31st, operating losses amounted to £26.6 million. The F1 Manager series didn't show the desired result and generated lower-than-expected sales at launch.
