The Final Fantasy 9 remake, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, and other games have been revealed.
SteamDB is a great source of information, and a similar website for Epic Games Store would be awesome, or so we thought. A newly launched third-party database EpicDB has already been taken down, but not without leaving some interesting bits of data.
The website listed some unannounced titles from big publishers, like Final Fantasy 16 and the remake of FF9, The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, and more. A lot of the games were codenamed, so it took some effort to decipher them, but thankfully, Gematsu has a nice breakdown of some of the projects.
For example, Momo is assumed to be Final Fantasy 9 Remake because of the Thief's Knives and Tetra Master Starter Pack bonuses, which mention content from the game. Some listings plainly point to the cloud save folder with the name of the game.
There's reason to believe some of the data is fake, enabled by Epic's self-publishing tools, as PC Gamer pointed out. One unknown organization, for instance, is stated as the publisher of Helldivers 2, Elden Ring, Starfield, Bloodborne Remake, Elden Ring 2, and a bunch of other titles that definitely don't belong to the same company.
Not surprisingly, EpicDB was quickly wiped out, with the internet remembers everything. I guess studios will have to announce their games sooner than expected, deny everything, or pretend nothing happened.
In the meantime, Epic Games released an update "so third-party tools can’t surface any new unpublished product titles from the Epic Games Store catalog."
