Epic Games Sues Fortnite Players for Allegedly Inflating Island Views

Epic Games claims that they dishonestly received tens of thousands of dollars from the company.

Epic Games has filed a lawsuit against two Fortnite island creators, accusing them of abusing the Fortnite Island Creator program by artificially inflating player engagement on their islands and thus receiving tens of thousands of dollars from Epic Games.

The Fortnite Island Creator program implies that players can craft their own islands within Fortnite and receive rewards from Epic Games based on other players' engagements in the custom-made maps. The company claims that two US residents, Idris Nahdi and Ayob Nasser, allegedly inflated the audience for their islands with bots that accessed the game through cloud services, and imitated player engagement on their islands.

Epic Games started to suspect misconduct after the two creators received their payments last December. Then, the company conducted an investigation, which showed that from 80% to 99% player engagement on the defendants' islands was artificial.

Epic Games is asking the court to order the defendants to pay damages and prohibit them from accessing Fortnite servers or any of the company's other projects.
