Epic Invests in Brazilian Developer AQUIRIS

Epic Games invested in a Brazilian developer AQUIRIS and signed an agreement to publish a number of the studio's future unannounced multiplatform games. AQUIRIS said Epic's investment will shape the next 15 years of the company.

On Wednesday, Epic Games announced it invested in a Brazilian studio AQUIRIS. The value of the investment was not disclosed. According to the press release, the companies signed an agreement to publish several multiplatform games which have not been announced yet.

The studio is best known for its Wonderbox and Horizon Chase games. The first one is an action-adventure title that allows the creation of unique maps, available for Apple devices via the Apple Arcade subscription service. The second one is a racing game inspired by genre classics from the 1980s and 1990s, such as Top Gear and Rush.

AQUIRIS is currently working on a new unannounced game that Epic will release alongside an unknown number of other future titles. According to the studio, Epic's investment will shape the next 15 years of the company.

"We are thrilled to partner with Epic Games. It's a strong endorsement of what AQUIRIS has built so far, and we can't wait to show the world what we are working on together," said AQUIRIS CEO Mauricio Longoni. "Epic's publishing power and close collaboration with us on tech, business intelligence, and product development will help us boost the quality and the reach of our titles."

As a result of the investment, the head of third-party publishing at Epic Games, Hector Sanchez, will join the board of directors at AQUIRIS. "Aquiris not only have a keen eye for quality game experiences, but have demonstrated great artistic and technical capabilities with their utilization of Unreal Engine in their products, Sanchez commented. "We’re honored to have this opportunity to strengthen our relationship with one of the premiere studios in the growing and important Latin American development scene."
