Ex-Arkane Director Finds Silver Lining in the Studio's Closure

He also believes that this could be an impulse for the emergence of new small companies in the immersive sim genre.

Arkane Austin

Recently, Raphael Colantonio, President and Creative Director of WolfEye Studios and co-founder and former Director of Arkane commented on the closure of Arkane Austin that took place in May 2024.

The developer called the shutdown "sad." "I wanted to see our game going forever," said Raphael. However, he continued on a positive note, saying that it is the company that's gone but not its people: "The people survive."

Colantonio noted that he is engaged in the development of WolfEye's projects. Earlier today, the studio showed a sneak peek at its new game, a first-person sci-fi action RPG. The developer also suggested that the closure might be an impulse for the emergence of new, small immersive sim companies, which would continue the genre.

Before the shutdown, Arkane Austin was working on the updates for its open-world FPS, Redfall.
