Explore British Windscale with This Game by Sniper's Elite Team

An upcoming single-player action Atomfall is inspired by real-life events of the 1950s.

Gamescom has brought plenty of news to the game industry, and one of them is the new trailer for Atomfall, a single-player survival action by Rebellion set to release in March 2025.

Atomfall is inspired by real-life events and is set in Windscale, Northern England, five years after the nuclear disaster. The trailer opens with a 1950s news reel-style introduction, providing context to the story. This picturesque British countryside with green valleys and hills seems serene and peaceful, but it is deceptive, as these lands hide mysteries and dangers. "Explore the fictional quarantine zone, scavenge, craft, barter, fight, and talk your way through a British countryside setting filled with bizarre characters, mysticism, cults, and rogue government agencies," reads the description on the Steam page.

The player's goal is to disclose the dark mysteries of the land, making their way through military encampments, abandoned bunkers, and Pagan ruins and uncover secrets lying beneath the surface with the help of a metal detector.

Atomfall features interconnected narratives that players uncover while investigating the game's world. Interactions with the characters shape the player's journey. But they can be challenging, as inhabitants of these lands have been isolated for years in their secluded society.

The developers offer pre-ordering Atomfall until October 11th, for delivery in March 2025. Read our interview with Rebellion's Lead Photogrammetry Artist Kristóf Rosu, in which the artist talked about creating assets for Sniper Elite 5, another of Rebellion's titles.
