FaceBuilder for Blender & Character Creator 4 Help Make 3D Characters from Photos

The tools now work together to create realistic people.

KeenTools and Reallusion announced the integration of FaceBuilder for Blender with the latest Character Creator 4 and Headshot 2. This should "provide users with a shortcut to creating look-alike full-body 3D characters with unique facial features using photos of real people."

Starting from KeenTools Blender Pack 2023.2.0, FaceBuilder incorporated a new Export to Character Creator option. This enables users to create and export a fully textured digital replica of a real person's head with a single click. There is now no need for manual mesh wrapping.

Character Creator 4 provides a variety of body types and extensive collections of clothing, hairstyles, and animations. By combining the head and body, you can craft a unique 3D character with a high level of likeness ready for export to any 3D software or game engine.

Here is how you turn a photo into a 3D character:

  • Take 4-8 photos or snapshots of a person
  • Create a fully textured digital copy of the head with FaceBuilder for Blender
  • ‍Export-open the head to Character Creator 4 in one click. Fine-tune mesh with the Headshot 2 plug-in
  • Finalize your character: generate body, hairstyle, clothes, animation, etc.
  • Export your ready-to-use character to any external 3D software or game engine

KeenTools is also known for its other software, including GeoTracker and FaceTracker. Reallusion, on the other hand, is famous for its real-time 3D animation app iClone and Cartoon Animator. Together, they make simple realistic 3D modeling a reality.
