After almost 4 years, Fallout 76 is retiring the Scoreboard system and replacing it with the paid Season Passes, automatically available to the Fallout 1st members and others to purchase with some extra Atoms.
In 2020, Fallout 76 employed a system based on a series of seasons that has been accompanied by a "Scoreboard", a free unlock path that rewards players for completing various in-game challenges. Now, right before Fallout 76's 16 season called Duel with the Devil, Bethesda announced the update from Scoreboard to a Season Pass system.
Unlike many other multiplayer games, Fallout 76 always offered free content, even with the implementation of Fallout 1st, a premium membership enhancing the game experience, if you're willing to pay monthly, of course.
With the upcoming update, the system of earning S.C.O.R.E. and ranking up by completing daily and weekly challenges remains the same. The difference here is that the rewards can be unlocked dynamically, giving players the freedom of choice to some extent.
As the player earns ranks, they will unlock more Season Pages. On each Season Page, players can get a glimpse of what rewards will be available ahead of time and earn the ones they actually want by redeeming them in any order. Each time the player ranks up, they'll get 25 tickets that can be redeemed for any reward on Season Pages already unlocked. You just have to make sure to use your tickets before they expire at the end of the season.

Obviously, Fallout 1st members will get every Season Pass with extra rewards included with their subscription. For those who don't have a Fallout 1st membership, you can still get it by purchasing Fallout 1st Seasons Pass for 1500 Atoms in the Atomic Shop.
Fallout 76's season 16 begins March 26.
