Cast spells with some coding magic.
Engineer That's So Mo has taken a step closer to becoming a real wizard by playing Hogwarts Legacy using a magic wand.
Well, they still had to use a controller to move the character, but the spells were cast with a programmable Kano Wand, with help from a Raspberry Pi Zero W computer and some coding.
That's So Mo bound the spells to the gestures using Raspberry and a Python script to turn the wand into a wireless USB keyboard, and here it is – you're a wizard, Harry.
The creator mentioned that the magic is only possible on PC at the moment and there's some room for improvement. For example, they mentioned that the wand would sometimes disconnect, and playing while holding a controller in one hand is not comfortable. And, of course, it would be much better if the wand was the one, your one and only customizable model.
But it's all fixable, so we might see a true wizardly experience one day.
