Fans Spotted Easter Egg in Fallout Show That Nobody Else Noticed

The show's Makeup Department Head, Michael Harvey, said that even the director didn't spot the reference.

In his recent interview, Fallout's Makeup Department Head, Michael Harvey, discussed the production of the TV series Fallout, based on Bethesda's game franchise. He shared that the director, Jonathan Nolan, wished to convey the atmosphere of the game's world in the show while staying away from copying it. According to Harvey, Nolan advised to add creativity and imagination to the existing game's world used as a base.

While following this recommendation, Harvey allowed himself to implement in the series an easter egg. It was "minor", as he said, and difficult to spot. He didn't plan it in advance and decided to bring the game character into the show after the costume designer dressed the actor like somebody right out of the game.

The character whose appearance was transferred into the series is a traveling merchant named Cricket from Fallout 4. In the show, the same-looking character, Rink, appears on screen for about 10 seconds in episode 5. The screenshots show that the series' character Rink looks almost precisely like Cricket: the same outfit, thin face, skin color, and scar. Also, both are minor characters.

Harvey said that he didn't expect anybody to catch that reference immediately. And indeed, it happened, as even the director didn't spot the characters' likeness, unlike Fallout's fans on Reddit. A Reddit user known as IakeemV published a comparison of the two images depicting Cricket and Rink.

And it is not the only Reddit post addressing this reference:
