Take a moment to admire this splendid digital still life render reminiscent of classic oil paintings, created by Lighting Artist Trevor Gallois.
Crafted with Maya, a toolset for 3D animation, modeling, simulation, and rendering, the take looks like a painting of classical artists created with oil paints. The work conveys the magical vibes reminiscent of long winter nights and the festive season, though the skull adds some dark fantasy atmosphere.
Trevor Gallois shared that he mostly works with real-time game engines, and the artwork is the first project he has done with Maya. According to the creator, at first, he aimed for a realistic look using a simple HDRI, but during the process, he moved to a fantasy-inspired style. Trevor Gallois said that through the project, he enhanced his skills in shader creation, post-processing, and more. The artist shared some technical details, which you can read in the comments to the original Reddit post.
