Fibric: Procedural Clothing Creation With Curves In Houdini

Pepe Buendia and Agustin Gonzalez presented the results of their year-long work.

Previously, we featured a project developed by Pepe Buendia and Agustin Gonzalez that introduced an innovative method for creating CGI fabric and clothing. The project has now culminated in Fibric, a next-generation toolset for designing advanced clothing with curves, integrated within Houdini's SOP context.

SideFX has just released the FMX HIVE 2025 presentation of the Fibric Toolset, where both developers walk through the complete workflow with Leena, a fearless pirate character, from generating and manipulating fabric patterns to adding realistic damage, stitching, and detailed refinements. The presentation also showcases a custom Husk render-time procedural for dynamic clothing wrapping and authoring. Learn how Karma XPU enables rapid look development with millions of points in seconds, all within a robust USD-compatible pipeline.

Leena, the character developed for the demo, is expected to be released to the community soon. However, the developers still need a bit more time to finalize some details with SideFX before the launch.

In the meantime, check out the 1 Year in 15 Seconds video, which is a quick look at the past year of development, pretty much made from WhatsApp images Pepe and Agustin have been sharing with each other:
