I never thought zombies could have become something related to being beautiful until seeing the demos and trailers from Indonesia developer Agate's new game Rootmare. The mixture of gorgeous flowers and plants with rotten parts in the monstrous plant-zombie hybrids creates that odd attraction that makes me want to learn more about this upcoming survival horror.
Inspired by classic horrors like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Dead Space, Rootmare has been developed with Unreal Engine 5. In the setting, you are a model named Nate who got stranded on a remote tropical island, which is nothing about sunshine and beach. It used to be a haven for the entertainment business and beauty industry, but it has become the "center of a deadly biological incident."
As you struggle to find a way out in this labyrinth-like area, some dark secrets behind the truth of COSMIC’s experiments, which form threats to the existence of humanity, start to appear. Fight the horrific creatures, unravel the mystery behind all these abnormalities, and find if there is anyone else surviving.

Team Agate joined on social media last August to bring updates for the WIP project. Through the shared demos, we can see how the game allows players to fuse backpack items and weapons to create impressive destruction. There are also zombies that bleed pink blood, which can bite you to death. They also showcase the game's melee combat, improved map, and gloomy atmosphere that is with rich plantation:
