In Troubled Passage, you will fight your way through randomly generated levels, recruit companions, gather loot, trade, and fight with the mouse as an extension of your sword.
Troubled Passage is an upcoming low-poly roguelike ARPG made by Software Engineer and Indie Game Developer Sérgio Rodrigues. This game features a very peculiar combat system based on mouse swipes, allowing for interesting encounters that feel more engaging and rewarding.
In Troubled Passage, you will take the role of an adventurer set to travel across five regions and reach an old port, where you will take a ship that takes you far away. That's all you know for now. However, you must be very careful on your way, as the lands are full of undead creatures, dangerous traps, and other nasty travelers. You should always stay alert, even if you decide to travel with a companion.

To ensure that each playthrough feels different, all game levels are randomly generated. This way, there are new areas to explore each time you play as well as randomly placed loot.
Since Troubled Passage aims to provide players with as much freedom as possible, there's an option for character creation as well. You can choose your character's appearance and a character class, which defines the types of weapons and types of damage your character is proficient with, allowing you to receive a buff when using that type of weapon.

According to the developer, combat is the most prominent feature of the game. In Troubled Passage, attacks are performed by swiping your mouse in a certain direction, up, down left, or right. These swipes will trigger the combat skill that you have assigned to that direction.
There are multiple skills to learn throughout the game for each type of combat:
- Unarmed
- One-handed
- Two-handed
- Bow
Of course, loot is also a big part of Troubled Passage, and the loot system is described as "if they have it, you can have it". That means you no longer will be disappointed if an enemy with cool armor drops a knife or an apple. In this game, enemies will drop exactly what they are wearing, stats included, meaning strong enemies equals strong loot.
There are also traders to visit to buy and sell items. Blacksmiths will even allow you to forge your own weapon from a list of components and manage the weapon stats.
As for companions, from time to time, you will encounter recruitable characters that can help you in your quest. They could be expensive, but they will be a great help in dealing with enemies. All companions in Troubled Passage are randomly generated, and so are their motives.
A lot of the time companions react to your attitude towards them, meaning if they get seriously mad at you, they can become your rivals and even appear later on to seek revenge in a mini-boss battle.
