It's hard to find anyone who hasn't heard of Final Fantasy. The franchise has been around since 1987 and has received a lot of love and recognition. A recent report states that the series has sold over 180 million copies worldwide, which makes it one of the most successful games out there.
The latest installment, Final Fantasy XVI, has contributed to this number rather quickly: it sold 3 million units in the first week after its release on June 22.
This new information makes Final Fantasy the 13th best-selling franchise in the world, right after Assassin's Creed and The Sims. Mario crowns this list with its whopping 826.38 million sales, with Tetris, Pokémon, Call of Duty (of course), and GTA following.
