Final Fantasy VII Music Played During a British Military Parade
In the game itself, the track was played while terrorists were bombing the military.
During the ongoing Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, an annual military parade performed by British Armed Forces, Commonwealth and international military bands, and artistic performance teams in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, a funny occurrence happened to take place. A band of military musicians presented a live rendition of the track "Bombing Run" from Final Fantasy VII, while troops marched in a precise formation to the music.
According to the video shared by Reddit user Roshi20, embedded above, the incident took place on August 4, the first day of the parade. The video clip shows the troops executing a routine synchronized with a live cover of the opening mission theme from FFVII, likely not even realizing the absurdity of the situation.
Said absurdity, for those who haven't played Final Fantasy VII, stems from the context in which this particular song is featured within the game. "Bombing Run" plays during a sequence where a group of former military mercenaries and eco-terrorists bomb a facility owned by the Shinra corporation, resulting in the deaths of numerous soldiers. Bearing this in mind, the contrast between soldiers parading to the same song becomes quite evident and somewhat ironic.

Here's what Reddit users had to say about the situation:
"Military Marching Band playing a song called "Bombing Run" from a game where terrorists bomb a military installation. Ironic."
"Ah, shit, I hit the wrong button!"
"Glad they have good taste in Performance Music."
"Oh man, that's so badass. I would feel so invincible hearing that while marching."
"I was there with my partner! I said to her, this is music from a game, I know it! Couldn't think what it was. Now I know which game!"
"Thematically this makes no sense......and yet WHO CARES. Epic!!!"
