Helsinki-based gaming startup Return Entertainment raised €5.3 million to create cloud-native games cross-playable between mobile, tablet, and PC.
Finnish-based studio Return Entertainment announced it has raised €5.3 million (around $6 million) in a funding round. The round was led by Bitkraft Ventures along with the participation of such investors as Sisu Game Ventures, Vgames, 1Up Fund, and Smok Ventures.
The funding will go towards developing two initial cloud-native games that would be playable both on browsers on PC and mobile devices with one of them intended for the casual market and the other one for the hardcore market.
The Helsinki-based studio was founded in 2019 by seven industry veterans including CEO Antti Sartanen, CTO Tuomas Paavola, and Lead Designer Toni Hollming.
In an interview with GamesBeat, Antti Sartanen shared that they want to create games that will use the cloud as an advantage. "We want to be one of the first ones to figure out what is the best use of this platform," he added.
