The game’s Combat Designer Ryota Suzuki has stated that he believes the upcoming RPG is his "personal masterpiece".
Final Fantasy XVI will finally launch on PS5 later in June after much anticipation. Fans got a comprehensive demo of the game earlier this month, which allows them to experience different aspects of the game, including its new RPG-style combat style, which is very similar to games like Dragon’s Dogma and Devil May Cry 5.
Those who have been following the game for a long time will notice these similarities due to its Combat Designer, Ryota Suzuki. Suzuki’s previous work when he was at Capcom also includes such titles as Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes. He left the company in 2020 and joined Square Enix later that year. Building on previous action games, Suzuki has stated that the RPG is one of the best he has worked on.
During a livestream, Ryota Suzuki said that after 25 years of designing action games, he believes Final Fantasy XVI is his “personal masterpiece”. He also shared that he hopes that those who have not played the genre before will be able to experience the RPG and that it will give them a chance to experience “the allure that the action game can bring”.
Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naoki Yoshida also revealed some details, saying that the game was originally planned to be a two-disc release. Final Fantasy XVI will be released on PlayStation 5 on June 22. A playable demo for the game was released on the PlayStation Store earlier last week.
