Former ID@Xbox Director Agostino Simonetta Joins Thunderful
Agostino Simonetta will be Thunderful's Chief Strategy & Investment Officer.
Having spent almost seven years serving as Director of Global Partnership Management for ID@Xbox at Microsoft, today games publisher Thunderful is excited to announce Agostino Simonetta is joining the company as its new Chief Strategy & Investment Officer.
Simonetta - who has also worked at PlayStation Europe, SEGA Europe, and THQ during the course of his two decades within the games industry - leaves ID@Xbox in good health. The publishing program has become a key component of Xbox’s offering and a staple for developers across the globe in recent years.
Now taking up his new role as the head of the Thunderful Group Gaming division, Simonetta will look to build on connections made with the world’s best development studios to help power the Swedish publisher’s offering to developers across the globe. Outside of its publishing efforts, Thunderful also acquires great studios and invests in outstanding game projects.
“It has been a pleasure and an honor to work with the ID@Xbox team, collaborating as part of the leadership group there and supporting developers all over the world in both pursuing and achieving their dreams. ID@Xbox is in an incredibly strong position to continue their fantastic work with independent developers as they continue their momentum in this next generation,” says Simonetta on his new appointment. “For me, Thunderful represents an opportunity to take all the experience I’ve amassed over the last 20 years and plug it into a publisher that has developers and their goals at their heart. Thunderful is also a great opportunity for me to continue to both help and support independent developers all over the world.”
Simonetta’s appointment comes as part of a period of continued evolution for Thunderful, which - over the course of the last year – has acquired UK-based studio Coatsink, German game publisher and developer Headup, developer Station Interactive which worked on the Little Big Planet series, and Swedish outfit Guru Games, all on top of setting up a brand new studio in Malmö.
Simonetta begins work at Thunderful on the 1st of July and is looking forward to speaking with new studios as the company continues to drive forward.
