Former Veterans from Bethesda, Gearbox & Epic Games Launched a New Studio

The debut title of Ruckus Games, a multiplayer shooter with some of the stupidest weapons, is now looking for playtesters.

Ruckus Games has unveiled its debut title, an unnamed multiplayer session-based suburban invasion game that combines RPG elements, crafting, and town building.

Three years ago, in 2021, seven industry veterans who had worked in Gearbox Software, Bethesda Softworks, and Epic Games decided to set up their own studio to create the kind of multiplayer game they had long wanted. The team is under the leadership of CEO and Game Director Paul Sage, who was the former Creative Director of Borderlands 3 and The Elder Scrolls Online.

Their debut title remains a bit mysterious yet, but it is said to be a stylized third-person shooter set in “a reminiscent era amid the backdrop of the American heartland.” It offers a variety of playable characters and unique make-shift weapons, including a toaster that can shoot saw blades. Players can destroy anything they don’t like to find out new weapons and resources. Your major task includes saving NPCs and bringing them back to your growing hometown. Upgrade your weapons and abilities to get stronger and more powerful in future combat.

The newly founded studio has received $19m in funding from investors who were sold after playing the demo for 20 minutes, so it sounds like they’re really cooking something fun and creative for the genre.

With their “community-centric development process that focuses on getting direct feedback from players from the very start,” the team is now looking for testers for the project, so don’t miss out on the chance if you’re interested in joining.
