Foundry has presented the final release of Mari 6.0. The new version of the 3D texture painting software extends the USD export workflows, so you can now export the USD look with the shader bindings and don't have to go through an external DCC tool.
You can now use Mari’s selection tools to assign materials to the USD face set-based location. The selection group tools help quickly assign materials to areas of their model and make sure they remain assigned in the exported USD look.
The final version brings a Roller Brush tool that allows you to paint a tileable image following the brush stroke. You can quickly paint seams or decals without having to manually line up each texture.
The update also introduces a new Python Shelf Item – created in collaboration with Wētā FX – that allows storing Python scripts in Shelves. You can then edit the script inside the Shelf and change the thumbnail.
As mentioned in the Alpha release, Mari's third-party libraries are now upgraded to the versions specified by the VFX Reference Platform CY2022. You can find the new versions here.
Mari 6.0 is available for anyone with a commercial Mari license. The Individual license costs $68/month or $689/year.
