Free Browser-Based 3D Modeling Software Womp Released In Beta

Introducing experimental import support for common file formats, more primitives, new PBR materials, and more.

For those who have missed this news, Womp is a lightweight 3D modeling app running on any device that supports a web browser and aiming to make learning 3D accessible for designers of all backgrounds, while offering professional results. Boolean-based, this software allows you to goop, melt, and subtract primitives from each other, making it great for shape exploration, and creating simple models or graphics for posters.

With its official Beta release, Womp has introduced several improvements, starting from a revamped UI for navigating the app more easily, including improved iPad usability, and enhanced graphics, significantly boosting Womp's performance and visual quality with the upgraded renderer.

The central feature of this update, however, is that now you can finally import your own 3D files into Womp and make them interact with the rest of your scene, apply any of the materials functions on your imports, and treat them as primitive. Currently, the file formats supported are .dae, .xml, .blend, .3ds, .gltf, .fbx, .ply, .stl, .off, and .obj.

Additionally, Womp received an expanded set of primitives, now including Cone, Torus, and Pyramid.

With an updated set of readymade PBR materials, you can take your designs to the next level. Covering common types of real-world materials, from ultra-realistic to stylized options, each one is high-res and fully customizable.

Verified "Wompers" obtain additional perks including the ability to add contact details, a portfolio link, and receive a verification badge.

To kickstart your 3D journey in Womp, you can browse tutorials on the developers' YouTube channel, tune into live streams, follow the minigames, or join the dedicated Discord server to connect with other creators, ask questions, and join the community events.

Womp runs on any device with standard desktop browsers and comes in free and paid versions.
