Maxime Guyard-Morin shared an update to his useful free node.
Maxime Guyard-Morin announced the availability of the new version of his free Non Uniform Edge Detect node for Substance Designer. The update brings new functionality including small shapes preservation and artefacts removal.
For those of you who missed previous versions, it is an edge detect node allowing to set random and non uniform space between each shapes. The author noted that it can be useful to achieve a organic look with stones and pavement but it can also be applied to other projects.
Renders below belong to Nikolay Marinov and Ludovic Petiot:
Details on the new version (Substance Designer2021.1.2 (11.1.2) or above):
- Minimum edge size is reduced to one single pixel instead of 2
- Artefacts generated by high "Edge width random" values can be removed using an included filter (Filtering -> By Kernel)
- Edges size can be scale by shape size in order to preserve smaller shapes
