Frictional Games' Amnesia: The Bunker Will Bring Major Changes to the Series

The game will feature a "semi-open world" due to which players will be able to choose how to explore locations, and which paths to take in order to stay alive.

Frictional Games has announced the next game in its survival horror series, Amnesia: The Bunker. The game will be set in a desolate World War I bunker where players will take on a role of a French soldier haunted by amnesia.

Armed only with a revolver gun with only one bullet remaining in the barrel and a noisy dynamo flashlight, the soldier has to make his way out of the dark corridors of the bunker trying to avoid the "oppressing terrors" he can face there.

According to the developers, Amnesia: The Bunker is set to be the biggest departure from the series yet as it will bring a new kind of horror adventure which incorporates both emergent gameplay and sandbox elements. Featuring a "semi-open world", the game will give players the ability to choose how to explore locations, and which paths to take in order to stay alive.

In addition, due to the openness of the world, players will be able to solve various emerging problems in different ways as well as horrid threats will dynamically react to the player's actions. The story of The Bunker will also change depending on the choices players make.

Amnesia: The Bunker will launch in March 2023 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
