G.I. Joe Snake Eyes Game Gets Approved by Wizards of the Coast

The title has officially entered the pre-production phase of development.

Atomic Arcade, a AAA game development studio led by Warner Bros., Epic Games, and Bethesda veterans, has released an official statement with exciting news regarding their highly anticipated G.I. Joe Snake Eyes video game, first revealed back in 2021.

As per the announcement, Wizards of the Coast, the proprietor of Dungeons & Dragons, has given their approval for the Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins-inspired AAA title. This approval marks a significant milestone, enabling the game to progress from the concept phase and enter the pre-production stage of development. During this phase, the team will focus on preparing the game and their resources for full production, leading up to the eventual release.

"We will be working on many important things like finalizing development pipelines, identifying and hitting visual and performance targets, and culminating in a vertical slice milestone that will demonstrate a final quality cross-section of gameplay loops, technology, features, mechanics, art, and audio that will be part of the final version of the game," reads the announcement. "The team has worked incredibly hard to get to this point and we couldn’t be more proud of the work we have done and the game we are making!"

Additionally, the studio announced that they had decided to build a physical studio space in Raleigh, North Carolina, to foster more collaboration.

"All our roles are fully remote, and we do not require anyone to come into the office but rather took the approach that if we build an inviting and collaborative space, the team will naturally want to utilize it, and we can say that has turned out to be the case," the team noted. "Our Raleigh team is in the office daily, and many of our remote team members come to visit the studio to build relationships, collaborate and create; it has had a huge positive impact on our team and development."

Earlier it was reported that Wizards of the Coast had decided to cancel at least five of its undisclosed games, indicating a reduction in the company's aspirations in the video game industry. However, with the latest update, it has been officially confirmed that Atomic Arcade's Snake Eyes game was not among those canceled.
