Lucid Tales shared a new episode of the Game Dev Pantry series, where interesting retro mechanics are recreated in UE4.
For this episode, the team analyzed FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice mechanics and gameplay features. The soul-like game, you will become a warrior in Japan in the 1500’s, whose aim is to protect a young lord. During the mission, you’ll have enemies to fight with, including notorious Ashina clan. The new episode will cover those features that will come in handy for you in the game, including a grappling hook, wall jump, and vertical movement options.
Later on, the team will show step by step how to recreate the grapple mechanic in UE4, starting with grapple points and detection system and moving forward to the character’s animation.
