Game Studios & Fans Share Their GTA VI-Inspired Announcements

From Halo Infinite and Overwatch to football clubs and the government of São Paulo.

If you haven't been living under a rock for the past few days, you most likely have already heard about an exciting announcement made by Rockstar Games last Friday. With a single stylized image featuring several palm trees and a sunset, the studio unveiled the release date for the first trailer of Grand Theft Auto VI. According to their statement, we'll finally get a sneak peek at the upcoming game in the GTA series this Tuesday, December 5, at 9 AM ET.

The studio's tweet, which itself has since broken a few records and became the most-liked videogame-related publication in less than 24 hours, has inspired multiple other game developers and GTA fans, who decided to stylize their announcements in a similar manner and with a similar color palette.

343 Industries, Mediatonic, and Activision were among the early adopters, joining the bandwagon by sharing their GTA VI-inspired announcements for new trailers of Halo Infinite, Fall Guys, and Call of Duty Warzone:

The trend was then joined by Blizzard, METALLADLERSTUDIO, and Supercell with their announcements for Overwatch, Rattein Reich, Brawl Stars, and Clash of Clans:

The announcement for GTA VI was so significant that it reached beyond the gaming industry. Notably, participants included a Turkish football club, Galatasaray, and even the government of São Paulo, Brazil.

In other GTA 6-related news, earlier it was reported that GTA VI will feature two protagonists – a male and a female – inspired by the infamous real-life duo of bank robbers Bonnie and Clyde. Moreover, it was revealed that the launch version of GTA VI will feature Vice City and its surrounding areas and will include more interior locations than any GTA game before it.

To many, the upcoming game was marred back in 2022, when a group of hackers shared a confidential document from Rockstar that contained 90 videos of test GTA VI footage. One of the videos shared by hackers showed Lucia, the female protagonist, robbing a waffle restaurant with Jason, the male protagonist, in a scene resembling Tarantino's Pulp Fiction.

Despite this leak, both Rockstar and Take-Two remained optimistic, saying that the new installment in the Grand Theft Auto series will set new creative benchmarks and commenting that the studio's primary objective for GTA VI is to achieve nothing less than perfection.
