gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show held its official press conference, revealing new details for its 2026 edition under the theme "The Heart of Gaming," including Doom and Quake creator John Romero set to receive the show's Lifetime Achievement Award.
The show returns to the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC) from October 29 to November 1, 2026, with support from depa, Thailand's Digital Economy Promotion Agency.
Entertainment area expands to four halls
The entertainment side of the show is growing for 2026, expanding into four halls for the first time. Platinum Sponsors Synnex | Nintendo and Monster Energy anchor the space alongside a wide list of other brands.
Confirmed game showcases include names like 4Divinity, Bandai Namco Entertainment, CAPCOM, Elementa, GRYPHLINE, KURO GAMES, LMD Games, PlayPark, Razer Game Services, Rising Tide, SEGA, and The Pokémon Company, among others, with more announcements expected. Playable demos already confirmed include CAPCOM's Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, Mega Man: Dual Override, Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Street Fighter 6, and Pragmata, alongside 4Divinity's lineup of Guns of Eschaton, Genigods: Nezha, A Whisper of Fall: Jinyiwei, Sword Sage: Awakening, and Realm of Taiwu, plus GRYPHLINE's Arknights: Endfield. Hardware and peripheral brands on site include AMD, GameSir, Lenovo, SteelSeries, SIGNO, and XPG.
Stage highlights and fan activities
John Romero will attend in person to meet fans in the entertainment area ahead of receiving his Lifetime Achievement Award on the main stage.
Other highlights announced for the entertainment area:
- The Thailand Game Awards grow to 31 categories this year, 13 for hardware and IT products and 18 for developers and titles, including Game of the Year, three new categories for indie games, and the WINGS Award recognizing games where women and other gender-marginalized developers hold key roles.
- The Cosplay Contest returns with its prize pool increased to 300,000 baht, registration is open from August 24 to September 30, with a new Best Duo category joining the existing Solo, Team, and All-Star formats.
- Fan meetups are planned with John Romero, Xiaoyukiko, and a lineup of Thai creators including zbing z., SoomnyVivii Ch, Jubjang Ch., and others.
- Thai-Japanese idol Cherprang Areekul will perform a new arrangement of the event's theme song on the Main Stage.
- ACE (Anime Asia Comics Content Entertainment Expo) joins the show for the first time, bringing pop-culture programming including a panel with the producers of Ghost in the Shell.
The show's opening online broadcast, primetime, streams October 29 at 8 PM GMT+7 (3 PM CEST / 6 AM PT), with a dedicated Steam Festival running for the duration of the event.
Business area for industry professionals
The B2B side of the show runs October 29-30 and is open only to industry professionals and media. This year's edition brings over 70 speakers from more than 20 countries across four stages, an exhibition floor spanning 25 countries and regions with country pavilions from Austria, Germany, the Philippines, South Korea, Spain, and Thailand, plus pitch competitions, an Asia Game Talent Showcase for student teams, and an invest circle and VIP XPerience sponsored by Xsolla.
Last year's event drew 206,159 visitors from 95 countries, delivered 28 hours of main stage programming, and featured more than 200 indie games. Organizers expect the 2026 edition to top those figures.
